I switched from one host to another for a site of mine. I downloaded the database my WP was using from the old host, then created a new database and uploaded everything to it verbatim. I then downloaded my “wp-content” folder from my old host and uploaded that to my new hosting’s directory for that site. After that I just downloaded the latest version of WP and uploaded it all to the host minus the content folder.

I updated the wp-config file to reflect the new database’s login/name/password.

I thought that would be all I’d have to do aside from resetting my permalink structure, but now when I try to log into WP on the site it’s prompting me to install it new. I thought if the config file was edited appropriately then it would just read that and connect with the new database.

What am I missing here? Thanks for the help in advance.
