WordPress projects vs woocommerce products

    Hi there,

    I am new to wordpress and i am a bit confused with my dashboard. I am trying to categorize my inventory but am unsure how to do it. WordPress has project categories and woocommerce has product categories. I am sorry if this sounds really stupid. I have googled this and have not found any answers.

    May i find out what the differences are between wordpress project categories and woocommerce product categories and how they will affect the results of my search menu?

    My apologies if this is basic but i cannot find anything about it.

    I hope you can help me out and clarify and kindly explain how i can take advantage of both.

  • A “post” is the original WordPress building block and typically might be some words and pictures about an event. These can be put into post categories: home / work / travel whatever.

    A “product” is a special type of post, and they have their own “product categories” system that you might use for “hats / shoes / jackets” whatever.

    They look and work in the same way. The setup screens are similar. The WooCommerce shop page can organise products by product category.

    There are other types of “post” and these may or may not be organised using their own category system.
