Hello, I run WordPress on a webpage and WordPress has added the post text, but then at the top of the webpage is a banner.
The banner is wrong and I don’t know where WordPress is sourcing the banner from?

I’m sorry. Thanks for reminding me.
I think my tiny brain was fried and this was a last cry for help.

So, I have a webpage on WordPress.
The other website pages run on MODX.
I had to upgrade MODX and then WordPress was all messed up.
The website shows a Navbar and banner on all 6 pages, but the 7th page with WordPress shows a different (possibly old copy from who knows where) Navbar and banner text.

I think I might have to move a wp-admin or wp-content file to somewhere in the Filesystem, but I’m a bit lost at what to do, to fix it?

So, I have a webpage on WordPress.

Do you mean you have a WordPress site running on your host? on WordPress.com?

The other website pages run on MODX.

and MODX is what? A web host? a Plugin? What other web pages?

The website shows a Navbar and banner on all 6 pages, but the 7th page with WordPress shows a different (possibly old copy from who knows where) Navbar and banner text.

so you have some website(??) that includes your WordPress site as part of it? And you moved files around…or did you move folders? (wp-admin and wp-content are folders)

the wp-admin folder and the wp-content folder should be in the WordPress root folder.

I guess I’m wondering if or where an old wp-admin or wp-content file might be.
After the MODX upgrade the WordPress old webpage (it’s not a recent webpage) is showing.

I could be wrong and something else is wrong?

    Yes, I’m answering.
That following thread was as additional after thought, sorry.

So, yes, I think I have a WordPress site? running on a Webhost.
https://www.domain.com/webpage/wp-admin/post.php?post=127&action=edit is the link to the page with WordPress edits.

MODX is a Content Management System (CMS) which allow high level website management (although I’ve had more luck with the CLI on my git repository).
The website has 7 webpages with a global Navbar with 7 tabs to select each webpage.
The 5th webpage is running on MODX with a header Navbar and top banner, but gets it’s posted information from WordPress.

I haven’t moved any folders around yet.
I had to upgrade MODX to make it work, which messed lots of things up.
Now the 5th page with WordPress content seems to show an older webpage (with only 6 Navbar tabs and different text in the top banner).
I’m still not sure if I need to action MODX or WordPress.

I am now searching for the WordPress root folder, as I’m guessing it’s somewhere in the Website Filesystem under domain.com/public/www/…?

Ok, I found the path to the wp-admin and wp-content folders in /public/www/webpage.
Not sure what to do with them though?

They go in the folder where wordpress is installed – the other folder in the wordPress root folder is wp-includes – some of the files inthe WP root folder are: wp-config.php, wp-login.php, wp-mail.php

    Thread Starter eiger3970

    (@eiger3970)

    Ok, thank you.
    Sorry, wp-admin, wp-content are already in website/public/www/webpage.
    I don’t see wp-includes?

So, I guess this is already the correct folder.
I’m confused then, why a possible old WP file is now showing on the upgraded MODX?

Since I don’t know anything about MODX or what updating it includes, I cannot answer that question. However if the wp-includes file is not there, then WP will not be working if that is the wordpress root folder.

You need to determine where the wordpress root folder is. You should have a URL that takes you to the wordpress site. You should also be able to use that domain name and go to your domain name administration and find the folder it is pointing to.

If you don’t know what this all means, I suggest you find someone local and hire them to help you out,

Well, I’m in the website and the WordPress website https://www.domain.com/news/wp-admin/index.php

Is that the WordPress root folder?
What do you mean by my domain name administration…the Filesystem /public/www…?

Find what folder what is pointing to?

I know what most of this means, but simply don’t know WordPress’ paths for navigation.

What kind of support is that?
Not impressed at all with that type of comment.
It seems WordPress is getting a bit too big for its boots with a 20% market share.
Too much money is unfortunately not my problem.

What kind of support is that?

    Free and volunteered!

I haven’t a clue about half of what’s discussed here but I’ll have a go at chipping in. Take it for what it’s worth.

The folder /wp-admin is where the Admin stuff happens.
The folder where your themes are should be /wp-content/themes

I suspect that something is going on in your themes folder. The banner is called probably, by header.php and combined with style.css

The root folder of WordPress will depend on where it was installed in the first place. Might be in /news

    Good luck.

Sometimes, complex difficulties can become frustrating for helper and helpee when you only have a few lines in a forum to grapple with.

Who do you think is making money here? I’m an unpaid volunteer try ing to help you. From your answers, you don’t seem to have the basic background knowledge to do what needs to be done. To teach you what you would need to know wold take way too much of my free time.

It is your responsibility – if you want to maintain a web site – to learn the vocalubary and the tools. Take some tutorials, read thru the WordPress Codex, do google searches.

If your site was hosted at the same location that my site is located, I could walk you thru the steps to find your domain name administration panel, but even doing that is really outside the scope of these forums.

But since you seem to not appreciate my help, I will bow out of this thread and wish you good luck with your issue.
