WordPress permalink keeps adding 2

  • The page without 2 has a 301 redirect to its parent page for some reason. I am not sure how to remove the 301 redirect. Also, I would like to know how the 301 redirect happened so I can avoid it in the future.

  • Wordpress permalink that adding 2 is caused because probably you have the same existing slug that’s way WordPress itself add 2 to figures out a unique slug. Items in the trash also cause this issue. So you have to either change the URL of the post or permanently delete the same slug which is trashed.

    A 301 redirect because when you type an old URL into the browser or click on an old URL, you will redirect to a 301 as you specified, to its parent page.

    To remove 301 redirects, you must remove the same URL slug. or rename the existing URL that adds 2.
