    Hi,
Having just installed word press on my dev server (localhost) all is ok exept for wordpress does not link directly to my pages – i have to keep on adding the ‘index.php’ part to everylink as all i see is the actual directory listing of files. Even the preview panes while editing in admin show the directory list instead of the page (index.php)

I have reinstalled 3-4 times (thank god its an easy install routine) and same problem. I have added the ‘index.php’ part to the site and BLOG URL in Admin >Main as i thought this may be the answer when i do i get a site without, what looks like, any style sheet rules applied – and i cannot get back into admin without deleting all tables and re-installing.

    any suggestions ??

  • 1. The two URI values can end ONLY in directory names, no file names.
    2. Your setup is wrong: index.php is not among the valid index pages – that’s why you see the directory listing.
Nothing wrong with your WP install per se. Your dev server is not set up properly.
Search, google, learn… how to make index.php a valid index file.
