WordPress pages and posts with “too much” content are impossibly slow

  • I have a few WordPress pages with a huge amount of content, and whenever the amount of content/characters/blocks gets passed a certain point, the page becomes glitchy, like it’s bogged down, typing becomes impossible because the text appears on the page with worse and worse delays.

    This is not does happen on pages with very little text, or significantly less content/text.

    Uninstalling and reinstalling plugins doesn’t work, and it’s been happening more or less since the beginning, regardless of what plugins I have installed.
    Removing browser add-ons, using incognito mode, changing browsers, etc, doesn’t work either.

    I have no idea what the problem is or what to do to fix it, and would really like to receive some help, I’ve also complained on the forum about this issue multiple times, and it usually goes unanswered or people can’t identify the issue because they can’t replicate it on their end.

    Hi again, sorry for such a late reply (and happy belated new year?)

    I have upgraded my hosting plan, which should have increased the PHP memory, unfortunately the issue still remains.

    I looked at the PHP info page in the cPanel itself but this is all data I don’t know how to read. The best I can tell you is my hosting plan states “60 PHP workers” but I have no idea what that represents.

    Edit: according to the info panel, the memory limit is 2048M for both the local and master value.

    Any help?

    @erisf I have the same problem and have stumbled across your posts looking for answers. It I type too much content in one post (using gutenberg blocks), the page stutters so much that I can’t edit it. I have to continually close out and get back in and edit in short bursts before it drives to a halt again. I do not think you are exaggerating or experiencing something that others like me also haven’t experienced. What makes it so weird is it IS text related. I now create content elsewhere and paste it in because trying to type gets overwhelming at about 1000 words. I don’t know the character count. I hope you’re faring better now than you were!
