    Hello All,

    We have installed first WordPress as localhost in our ubuntu machine using Lampp. Now we have migrated our site to https://eshopdesign.wi.hs-furtwangen.de/ , the page is displayed content and all. But when we try to log in or leave a comment or read more, we are directed to another page which shows object not found error 404. We are not sure, what is wrong. Tried to read some online forums reagrding the same, heard something about permalinks and .htaccess file. Cannot find any .htaccess file. We would be very grateful for any help or suggestions.

    Error message:

    Object not found!

    The requested URL was not found on the server. The link on the referring page seems to be wrong or out of date. Please inform the author of that page about the error.

    If you think this is a server error, please inform the webmaster.

    error 404

    eshopdesign.wi.hs-furtwangen.de
    Apache / 2.4.3 (Unix) OpenSSL / 1.0.1c PHP / 5.4.7
    P.S: We are all fairly new to WordPress.

    Regards
    Aishwarya

    I have also just noticed that when i go the page https://eshopdesign.wi.hs-furtwangen.de/ and when I try to click leave a comment, like I mentioned above I am directed to the Object not Found page. But the URL is https://eshopdesign.wi.hs-furtwangen.de/eshopdesign.wi.hs-furtwangen.de/?p=39#respond and I noticed that the page URL is repeated again. When I try to delete the extra manually https://eshopdesign.wi.hs-furtwangen.de/?p=39#respond
    then it works.. What could be the reason for this repetition?

    I’m not sure, are you able to load your website’s (homeurl)/wp-admin/ admin section ?

    If you can, go to Settings > Permalinks, and try various options-combos, retrying the site every time…

    Additionally – I doubt it could help but who knows ! – here’s the default fundamental .htaccess file to place in your site’s home folder
    # BEGIN WordPress

    <IfModule mod_rewrite.c>
    RewriteEngine On
    RewriteBase /
    RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
    RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
    RewriteRule . /index.php [L]
    </IfModule>

    # END WordPress

    Hi Sabinooo,

    Thank you. But it started working. I just had to change the Home URL in wp-config ??

    Important: If the slug of your portfolio page is set to “portfolio” it can create conflicts with WordPress and cause 404 errors on paginated pages.

    Now I am facing this problem of 404 error. When I click on my portfolio link, it does not navigate into the content but rather shows error 404, page not found. Anyone to give clues or steps for resolving it, please.

    David
