• Hello, it would be so nice if wordpress had a fullscreen HTML editor for it’s pages. Instead it is only full screen for text, which in my opinion is when you would never need it go figure. Is there plug ins to increase the size of this window or add syntax hiliting or is there anyway to increase the height of the html content area when editing a page? The html page editor REALLY sucks actually.

Go to Settings/Writing in the admin panel and increase the value at “Size of the post box [x] lines.” You can also click and drag the bottom-right corner of the post box to increase its size.

You mean like a syntax highlighter?

Also, every time I hit refresh of the page window it reverts the size of my page editing box.

Yes, a syntax highlighter of the page window.

Try a plugin. Some add syntax highlighting to code displayed on the blog and some interface with the editor. I don’t have time right now to comb through them all and find the right ones:

Also, every time I hit refresh of the page window it reverts the size of my page editing box.

It won’t if you make the change permanent by increasing the value of “Size of the post box [x] lines” at Settings/General.

These tools all add syntax coloring to the straight editing of static pages, not to the PAGE editor of the wordpress dynamically generated pages. At lease this is what it appears as.

I have a similar problem, all the syntax highlight plugins available seem like overkill for what I need, and look v complex to use for a newbie like me.

My problem: Authors with little computer experience, and nil coding experience, like regular citizens, will be using the editor for their own single page on our site as a CMS. Visual editor is disabled to prevent Google calendar inclusion from being stripped at each edit.

I want to be able to say to inexperienced visitors: “edit your own page at will, but plase don’t touch any of the red type” thereby preventing them from screwing up any images, the G calendar, and anything else within html tags.

I just need certain blocks of html to be highlighted in one colour, surely I can do this by using <sometag> . . all the messy stuff in here. . . </sometag> then telling style .css to turn <sometag> red?

any help much appreciated! (using wp vers 3.0.4)
