www.remarpro.com – forum topic view – “In (icon)” could have a”change forum”feature
-
When a new topic is created within a forum, the “In” icon at the top right menu, shows which forum it is listed in.
This is useful information.
But this could be “not just information presentation”, but could also be used for a “process”.-
Concept :
A clock icon, similar to the one used for “Last Activity”, could be placed to the right of the forum name that is to the right of the “In” icon.
One the right side of this clock icon could be a down arrow icon.The function would be similar to the following;
The down arrow to the right of the clock, shows a drop down list of all the forum names (and if subcategories exist, then maybe those names too).
The user, or moderator, can then select a forum that the topic is better suited for.
The clock icon, when clicked, will show a drop down list, of previous forums that the topic has previously been located at, and then moved out of.This functionality is very useful for situations where a topic has been created, and consequently considered to be better situated in some other forum.
Rather than a topic creator being told to go somewhere, and therefore having to repeat their effort at that location, the topic can be reallocated the correct forum location, and proceed to engage others within the correct arena.This performs the function of a friendly receptionist, helping direct visitors to the right place.
The clock icon listing of the history of the topic’s forum locations would be useful for seeing what is being moved around but not handled, and what is being moved around to cover the topic which may involve input and considerations from experts from a diversity of forums.
