• I have a site with joomla installed but I decided I want to give wordpress a try, so i created a directory at https://www.x.com/wordpress (not a real link) and did the automated installation by godaddy.com site and got a notice by email that the installation was complete.

the problem is that now if i try to go to x.com/wordpress i can’t load the page. why and how do i load it? does joomla intefere with it? my intention is just to see how it works before i give up on joomla completely.

thank you for any help, appreciated!!

If Joomla is running in the root domain, almost certainly. You’d need to edit your root .htaccess file to stop Joomla trapping the /wordpress urls.

    that was quick! ??

what should i be doing with the .htaccess file? will renaming it suffice?

If you rename it, Joomla will almost certainly break. Can you cope with that?

I renamed it and wordpress does work and joomla doesn’t work now… but i love the new wordpress template and wp looks friendlier… i’m going to delete joomla and stick with wordpress and hopefully it will be what i wanted! thanks for the help!

    Welcome to WordPress! ??
