• Dear Team,

I am intending to setup a WordPress based system on Azure. I would like to make use of Php 7.2.1 with MySQL 8.0 using Ubuntu 18.04 LTS.

I would like to know about the VM recommendations for the same in terms of the following environmental parameters

    1) Capable of 2 billion users/hit per month
    2) Over the period of next 6 months the predicted storage use (cumulative of MySQL and file system) could touch 2.5 GB.

Kindly help with a suitable system recommendations for the same…

    Thanks and Regards,

    Deepak Vasudevan

May I know how many “hits per month” you’re currently getting, and what kind of infrastructure is powering that?

This will help understand your load better and provide you a more meaningful recommendation ??

In any case, if you’re truly looking at traffic in the billions, you’re not looking at a single cheesy cloud VM, whatever the spec. No single VM is going to have the network throughput, disk IO, or raw computing power to handle that many requests by itself. You’re probably looking at several web, application and caching severs with and load balancers and/or CDN… or even a well-orchestrated serverless architecture. Definitely not the sort of thing you ask in a WordPress support forum… which is why your post wasn’t answered in nearly 2 weeks.

    Good luck!
