• Resolved sdscripts

I’ve noticed that wordpress auto-update is not working after upgrading from wordpress 5.4 to 5.5. It is definitely caused by the miniorange 2fa and security plugin as the problem disappears when the plugin is deleted (and reappears when it is re-installed). I’ve been in touch with the developers but they say they have not been able to reproduce the issue. I have other plugins installed (including Jet Pack) and wonder if it may be that combining the miniorange plugin with another plugin may be the issue. Just wondering if anyone had any ideas.

    Hi There,

Thank you for raising the query.

One of our developers is in contact with you has sent you an email for the next steps.

We can resolve the issue once it is replicated on our end. We can get on a call and look into this together.

This will be the quickest way to resolve it for you.

Any progress on this. I’ve since disabled all the other non-miniorange plugin but it doesn’t seem to make any difference.

I found a solution by installing your stand-alone firewall application (as I didn’t really need the 2fa part of the bigger plugin anyway), and this worked fine, so either its the 2fa part causing the problem, or the firewall part of the larger plugin is not identical to the smaller one. I was a bit loathe to use the stand-alone plugin as it has not been updated for some time and there aren’t many active installations, but I did, and to my surprise this solved the problem. If you do ever update the stand-alone firewall plugin, and i hope you will, make sure you don’t just replace it with what you now have in the combined plugin, because the latter still doesn’t work for me.

    Hi There,

    Thank you for this information.

We have not been able to replicate the issue on our end but this might help.

We will try to look into further this.

Also, we are going to update the firewall plugin soon and it will be updated frequently.

Once the issue is replicated we will get back to you through the email.

Yes that narrows it down a bit. The problem is either in the 2FA part of the combined plug in or (more likely I guess) it’s in the bit’s of the firewall that have been changed in the four months since the stand-alone plug in was last updated. My worry is that when the stand-alone plugin gets updated in the future the problem will return. If you could keep me posted on any developments in getting to the bottom of this, as depending on the situation I may or may not want to apply future updates.

    Hi There,

    Thank you for your reply.

The firewall plugin will be updated soon. Right now it is in the testing phase. You can continue using it as it works as per your expectations.

About your concerns about the issue coming in the standalone plugin, what we can do it send you a backup of the current plugin and when we update the plugin we will send it to you first so that you can check if that works for you, if it doesn’t work you can go back to the older version.
Let me know if this works for you and as we are already conversation via email we can discuss this on email too.

Also regarding the 2-factor plugin, we had no luck until now in replicating the issue. We can look at it on your site by setting up a screen share call.

Please let me know if that works for you.
