WordPress not allowing theme uploads

  • Wordpress is not allowing me to upload or download a theme. Everytime I try, I get a damaged theme directory error. How do I go about fixing this?

    Can I manually create a new themes directory?

    do you have a WP-content folder in your webhosting account?
    do you have a themes folder in the WP-content folder?
    can you add a theme manually via FTP in the themes folder?
    are permissions set to be able to upload into the WP-content folder?
