WordPress noitifications and Gmail

  • Hi there… i{m having a small but annoying problem.
    Wordpress always notified me when a new comment needs approval (its ends the mail from [email protected]) but… i′ve changed my MX records to make Gmail my mail provider and the ONLY app that stopped sending notifications was WordPress…

    Is a problem to have MX records on other hosting provider? Do I have to modify something in order to get this “wordpress@” account working?

    Any idea on this problem?

    I assume you just changed over to GMail for your domain, yesno?

    I do the same thing, and get notifications from wordpress just fine. Check your spam folder and/or filters, these emails may be getting blocked. Or it may just need time for the MX records to propagate. Give it a couple days, at least.

    Ditto Otto – I also use “Gmail for Your Domain” and I still receive emails from the blog.

    Otto, right.. i’ve changed it at least 24 hours ago… and even when i receive mails in mi accounts… i dont get the WP notifications :s

    So.. i think i’ll be waiting at least another day then.

    Just to know… You (Otto42 and HandySolo) just changed the MX records and thats it? Or did you “tweaked” something? Many thanks

    Been a few months… but I recall only changing the MX records.

    Yes, I just changed the MX records.

    But with DNS, even if you’re receiving mail from some places, you still may not receive it from others. DNS is a distributed system. Your records could be cached all throughout the network. So yes, any changes you make do indeed take time to get out there. It doesn’t matter that you changed it “24 hours ago”, it usually takes at least 48 hours, sometimes more, for places to notice those changes.

    This *especially* applies to places that are likely to have your original DNS records cached, like your blog site, which sends you email on a regular basis. It’s more likely to have the old records cached, see? You have to wait for those records to expire.
