• Hi all,
Just lately I had a few emails from WordPress telling me that a new user has registered on my blog Internet Marketing Advice.
Now I know that I have set Membership as “anyone can register” in my general settings, and the “new user default role” is set as subscriber. But to be honest, I don’t have a clue what that actually does, and how somebody does subscribe to my blog to become a subscriber. Should I just delete these subscribers? What can they do? Wouldn’t it be much better if they signed up through my AWeber subscriber form on the blog?
I am just a little confused and worried that I might have settings here which are not good for my blog.

  • They are registering through this link:

If you don’t want users to do that, I would disable “anyone can register”. I would be curious as to why a person would do that when there isn’t anything on your site linking to I that I can see.

I would definitely disable it, if you have something else you want them to use.

I don’t think there is really anything a WP subscriber can do though… I would hope there isn’t…
