WordPress Network on a subdomain, new site on a DIFFERENT subdomain

I have an existing network installed on blog.domain.com, and the goal is to create a new “Hotel” site in the network, hotel.domain.com managed on my blog.domain.com network. There will be more sites in the future added, potentially with different subdomains—and in the future—different domains entirely.

Is this possible? Can someone please point me in the correct direction? I’ve tried using mod_rewrite to simply rewrite my current: blog.domain.com/hotel to hotel.domain.com, but have had no success.

Either direction will be fine with me, whether it’s using a WordPress solution, or Apache rewrites.
