• 1. The URL for a post should be easily viewable via the title of the post. (why was this changed in 5.5?)

    2. Preview of a post should be just one click.

    3. There should be a viewable frame around a block to show which block is active. (why is this frame removed in 5.5?)

    4. More stable blocks please. If I copy a HTML-block from one post to another it turns into paragraph-block when pasted.

    Thank you

  • 1. The URL for a post should be easily viewable via the title of the post. (why was this changed in 5.5?)

This is happening because the Title is becoming a block. This means that this block may not be used on a page, but the permalink would still need to remain. Detaching these helps allow that to happen.

    2. Preview of a post should be just one click.

    There’s ongoing discussion: https://github.com/WordPress/gutenberg/issues/24593

    3. There should be a viewable frame around a block to show which block is active. (why is this frame removed in 5.5?)

This is also being discussed here: https://github.com/WordPress/gutenberg/issues/23892

Sounds like a bug. I’ll test it out.

WordPress 5.5.1 is now out and nothing has changed it seems:

    Important requests (still not implemented):

    1. Preview of a post should be just one click.

    2. There should be a viewable frame around a block to show which block is active. This makes workflow so much easier (why was this frame removed in 5.5?).

As has already been stated, these are being actively discussed at the links above.

Please keep in mind that WordPress is free software, developed and supported entirely by volunteers doing this on their free time.

Changes take time to discuss and implement, and not all requests will be implemented.

Thanks for your answer. I understand. I am just curious about why the developers would want to make WordPress less userfriendly. Why remove the frame around a block (indicating which block is active)? This was very useful for the workflow.

The answers to your questions, and what they’re doing about it, are all in the two GitHub issues linked to a week ago in the first reply.
