WordPress Name Servers or 123-reg Name Servers?

Hi there,

Apologies if this is not the right place to post my question. Please advise me who to contact if it is not.

I signed up for a new domain on 123-reg and paid for hosting, since a friend told me I could do this and then use the WordPress app on their hosted package to access my WordPress.com site. My domain is vanessahunt.co.uk and my wordpress site is vanessahunt.wordpress.com

However, I then discovered I could point my wordpress site directly to vanessahunt.co.uk, so I have paid the $13 and done this. My email stopped working so I had to tweak the MX records and now it is working OK.

My question, however, is whether there any advantages to moving to the WordPress app on 123-reg? And what steps would I need to take to make this happen? Currently I am just maintaining my blog & adding posts on the WordPress.com site.

I am also even wondering if I need to pay for 123-reg hosting if my blog remains on the WordPress.com site and is just pointing to the vanessahunt.co.uk domain?
