I just updated to the latest version of WPP on a WP multisite.

It appears to have just wiped out all the view data for all sub sites, and it doesn’t add the javascript code to record views on any sub site anymore…

    What’s happening?!

  • Hi dukeo,

I have an issue with multisite too. It was working fine about 12 hours ago..and now view data aren’t fetching at all. Are you getting “Error: one or both data tables are missing” message when you try clear tables through plugin?

    Thanks.

I did not try to clear tables because I’m not sure the tables are actually deleted. I suspect the path to the tables for each subsites are incorrect but the data might still be there.

I don’t want to risk deleting all the page views’ data I’ve been storing for the past 3 years.

Waiting for an update from the plugin creator. Hopefully it’s just a matter of fixing the paths to subsites’ db tables.

    Hey guys!

A fix is on its way (see issue).

Please upgrade as soon as 4.0.6 is out.

Still appears to be non-functional for my multisite as of 4.0.6.

    Thanks for reporting, @ericsembrat!

Already working on it, should push a new update in the next hours.

Yep,same here…Not working. This happens only in sub sites.

I have updated to 4.0.6. Still not working.

    2 cases:
    1. when using a page as front page, no WPP code in the source code.
    2. on regular pages, the javascript is there, but I get the following message in the console: “WPP: Oops, could not update the views count!”

Moreover, the list of popular posts is still empty.

    Hey guys,

I have released a Beta version of WPP 4.0.7. You can download it here.

    How to install:

    1. Do a backup of your site (including the database).
    2. Go to Plugins and deactivate WordPress Popular Posts (do not delete or else you’ll lose your popular posts data!)
    3. Use FileZilla or any other FTP program to connect to your server, then go to wp-content/plugins and rename wordpress-popular-posts to wordpress-popular-posts-original (or just delete this folder, you won’t lose any data this way).
    4. On Plugins, click on Add new.
    5. On Add Plugins, click on Upload Plugin and follow the instructions (don’t forget to activate WPP 4.0.7 at the end of the process).
    6. Visit any admin page (eg. Settings > WordPress Popular Posts) to trigger the upgrade process.

If everything went well, all subsites using WPP should start tracking visits normally again.

    Please report back your results.

So, in case people are wondering why their server is getting bogged down, I woke up to a 100MB error log. 100% from WordPress Popular Posts.

The plugin is still not working for multisite, and causing a ton of errors.

    Hey @dukeo,

Did you try the beta version I posted above?

    Thread Starter dukeo

    (@dukeo)

    I just tried the beta.

    Here is what happens:
    – wpp_get_mostpopular() works correctly (i.e. the list displays correctly based on historic data),
    – when a page is set as homepage, the WPP javascript does not get added to the header,
    – on regular pages, the console reads “WPP: Oops, could not update the views count!”

Completely uninstalling this plugin from our website at this point.

    – wpp_get_mostpopular() works correctly (i.e. the list displays correctly based on historic data)

So it is working again, thanks for reporting!

    – when a page is set as homepage, the WPP javascript does not get added to the header

Actually that’s by design, and it’s been like this since pretty much always. You just happened to notice it now.

    – on regular pages, the console reads “WPP: Oops, could not update the views count!”

Just checked on a Multisite setup and I’m unable to reproduce this. Views are registered without any issues. Are you uing a caching plugin, by any chance?

Completely uninstalling this plugin from our website at this point.

That’s OK. Thanks for your time!

Anyways, to the rest of you guys: I’ll be pushing an update soon so please upgrade as soon as possible. Please report back if you find any issues.

    It’s working again ??
Thanks for your kind attention to this issue.
