• I have added

    define(‘WP_ALLOW_MULTISITE’, true);

    to my wp-config.php file however when I log into the site admin panel Network does not appear under Tools.

    Anyone have any ideas why?

  • Did you add that line to the bottom of the file? Cuz that’s too far down.
    Did you copy/paste it in Windows? Cuz then you’ll have curly quotes and not straight ones.

    I tried using a WordPress MU Activator Plugin which managed to achieve turning the site into a multi-site system. However it didn’t function correctly so I’m thinking something isn’t quite right. Originally on WordPress 3.0 I was able to start it all off with just that one line but now since the upgrade to Wordpres 3.1.3 it doesn’t appear to be the same protocol. Any ideas anyong?

    Rip out that plugin and undo everything it did.

    It *is* the same protocol for enabling multisite in 3.1.x. Those are minor version, it did not change.

    Super Admin changed to Network Admin for 3.1, but the process is almost identical – starting with that same line.

    Sorry to jump in here but I can not get the multisite install to work for me. I’ve tried removing and reinstalling everything several times. Not sure what I’m doing wrong. I can’t seem to get a super admin or network admin to show.

    I followed the instructions above. Anyway to get some assistance?

    I’m running 3.1.3 new install. No themes or widgets just a vanilla install.

    Likely you messed up your wp-config.php file. Make sure you added the lines above the ‘stop editing here’ message.
