WordPress Multisite MU www vs non-www issue

    The main domain for multisite network was created as waautocredit.com (no www)

    All of the other domains are created in multisite setup as https://www.washingtonautocredit.com (or washingtonautocredit.waautocredit.com)

    None of the non-www versions are working (not found page, https://waautocredit.com/register/)
    None of them forward to www version.

    I tried doing a normal htaccess redirect (the file is in the waautocredit.com ftp, and thought it worked great…until I tried to login to my admin waautocredit.com/wp-admin

    I got redirected to https://www.waautocredit.com/wp-admin and it would never let me log in (even though it was the right password), but the page did load. It seemed to loop.

    The current main domain registrar record setup looks like this:
    * CNAME 5m waautocredit.com.

    @ A 1h x.x.x.x (actual ip)

    localhost A 1h 127.0.0.1

    The current blog domain setups are like this:
    * CNAME 5m mappeddomain.com.

    @ A 5m x.x.x.x (same ip as maindomain)

    localhost A 1h 127.0.0.1

    Is there anything I am missing that could be causing my problem?
    Is there a fix for the www/non-www or should I just move all of my sites to the non-www version?
    I am pretty sure that would work if I changed the mapped domain blog names from www to non-www…for seo it would be tollerable, but not my preference.

    I think I found the answer.

    It is relatively simple, but I could not find a direct answer when searching.

    Basically, I just had to specify each domain redirect individually in the main MU domain htaccess.

    RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^washingtonautocredit\.com$ [NC]
    RewriteRule ^(.*)$ https://www.washingtonautocredit.com/$1 [R=301,L]

    and so on.
