I am a site admin on a WordPress Multisite installation. I am not the network admin.

I had the network admin install The Events Calendar plug-in. But even when I sign-in as the site admin, I can not create events. The drop down menu only givens me these options:

    View Calendar
    Settings
    Help

I also installed Events Calendar plug-in on a site I am running on my local machine. It workd fine there. I did notice that the options in the drop down do appear dependent on the role of the user who is signed in. For example a user in the role of subscriber can not create events.

Is there a issue with the plug-in on WordPress Multisite sites?

  • Hey John,

    Thanks for reaching out here!

This would be the first instance of this type of issue that I’ve seen noted. I tested on a Multisite install that I do have and wasn’t able to replicate the issue on a subsite while logged-in as just that site’s admin.

You could reach out to see if the Network Admin has any access control or role manager plugins active on the network. There could be settings issue there that could be causing the issues you’re noting.

Let me know if this helps.

    Thanks!
    Josh

I have a similar problem, although I only see “Tags”, “Import” and “Settings” under the “Events” menu. The problem occurs for a local admin in a multisite network. if I log in as a superadmin, then I can see all menu items.

    Hi,

Since Josh could not reproduce the issue. This maybe a conflict on the sites.

Can you please follow our testing for conflicts guide:

    https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/testing-for-conflicts/

And see if that can narrow down the cause of this.

    Thanks

I also experienced this issue – not on a multi-site, though.

It came down to permissions, for me. If I install the plugin manually, the permissions are set to 644 for files and 755 for directories. If I change the permissions for files to 755, I can then see all available options for the plugin.

I’m not sure what is causing this, though. I use wordpress in a way that allows me to lock down files so I can version control everything. Is this plugin attempting to make changes to its own files?

The only times the plugin changes files is when WordPress does it during updates or deleting. Otherwise we do not.

    Hello,

I am unable to post events on my site.. I am only presented with a few drop down menus such as tags, import, settings, help, event add ons.

I have tried this plugin on my other themes and it doesnt work on any of them.. I even tried it on the generic wordpress theme and had not luck.

Any suggestions? I noticed there was an update today which I did but still no luck in resolving this issue.
