• Hi, I am sooo close to getting WordPress Multisite up and running but am unable to add a new site. I am using Bluehost, where I have the new domain assigned as a parked domain.
When I go to settings/domain-add new domain I type the details in and nothing happens. The existing site had the id number 1 so I followed a tutorial and typed
    id=1
    new domain
    The screen just clears again.
I took a stab at typing id=2 and the domain which adds this but won’t let me add a new site.
Typing in the new URL directs to the existing site.

It’s been a day to get to this point and I’m sure I’m so close!!
    Please help!!

  • I have the same problem!!!
I can create new sites and see them in the dashboard, but when I click on the link, it’s an error message. And if I look in the directory from my FTP it doesn’t show any new site directory. Strange!

EMichaud – It sounds like your issue is completely different than Glenn’s issue. Please create your own topic rather than piggybacking on this one.

Glenn – it sounds like you’re trying to map domains. What plugin are you using for the domain mapping? Have you made sure that the new site works without the mapped domain, first?

I don’t think EMichaud necessarily has a different issue. I seem to be having both problems that EMichaud and Glenn@ are having. It shows that I have created three sites, and I followed the directions for the Domain Mapping plug-in and have my other domains pointed at the domain my install is on. I can’t log-in to my other two sites. If I go to the domain in my browser, it shows the default WP theme, as if there is a WP site there. When I try to add /wp-admin to the end so I can log-in, I get to the log-in page and it will not let me log in. Just keeps refreshing back to the blank username and password fields.

Anybody with suggestions would be great!

Well first off the plugin warns you all over the place that you cannot map Site #1, so that will never work ??

    Go to /wp-admin/network/settings.php?page=dm_domains_admin

    Is anything listed?

    And go to /wp-admin/network/settings.php?page=dm_admin_page

    What options did you select?

Hi and thanks for the response.

There isn’t anything listed on the dm_domains_admin page. This is where my issue sounds like Glenn@. Type something in the boxes, and it disappears. I used to be able to get to a log-in page for my 2nd and 3rd site, and now am receiving an error message when trying to go the them through the dashboard. I resorted to dumping those sites and trying to just set them up as sub-domains first before doing the mapping.

My settings on the dm_admin_page is set to “logged-in users my register new sites.”

Did you already have sites set up and they vanished?

/wp-admin/network/settings.php?page=dm_domains_admin should list all your mapped sites, and if that’s blank it points to a DB barf.
