• I am unable to log into my website’s admin backend.
When I visit the login page and enter my username and password the site redirects/refreshes the login page with no errors.

when i tried resetting pass word it says “Could not save password reset key to database.”
Nothing on the site other than post content has been changed, its a daily updated site. it just suddenly stopped working.
Later i tried resetting password through my phpmyadmin . it did not solve the issue.
My host tried resetting permissions even that did not wrk.
    please help
    thanks in advance

Using phpmyadmin, check and repair the wp_users and wp_usermeta table.

please help. its a daily update blog and i am struck since three days
My host is also unable to resolve it yet.

Did you check and repair the tables as I suggested? How did you try to change the password?

thank you Steve Stern for the tutorial. I did the check status of the tables and repaired the tables. Tables status are “OK” and no problem with it. But still the problem continues.

If you are correctly resetting the password *and* you still cannot login, I have to ask: Are you updating the right database?

    Thread Starter anaamika

    (@anaamika)

yes, for sure. I have cross checked it on the wp-config file. Even my hosts tech support team too has confirmed it. even other wise i have only 3 databases there. I am 100 % sure its the right one.
    thanks

So you select “MD5” and enter a password like “ABCDEF”. When you login, are you using “ABCDEF” as the password (correct) or the MD5 hashed value (incorrect). Sorry to ask such basic questions, but I don’t know a better way to debug this than to go to the basics.

Hmmm… you said “site redirects/refreshes the login page with no errors.” So you’re not getting a “bad login” message.

If you enter a random userid and password (ones you know don’t exist), do you get an error or the same redirection?

please feel free to ask any question, however basic it may be. i much appreciate this help. Need solve it at the earliest.

When i try logging in using wp-admin i give ABCDF- the non encrypted form. not hashed form.

Just to make sure that the password was changed for sure. I saved a password without MD5 encryption.(could see the changed password on the table) .
THe problem persists even after it.
    thanks

OK, then let’s try a couple of things:

    1. Use a different browser or a private/incognito session (to eliminate browser caching)

    2. This may be a plugin or theme conflict. Please attempt to disable all plugins, and use one of the default (Twenty*) themes. If the problem goes away, enable them one by one to identify the source of your troubles.

    See https://www.wpbeginner.com/plugins/how-to-deactivate-all-plugins-when-not-able-to-access-wp-admin/

tried it and worked.. thanks a lot.
i renamed plugin folder in file manager to deactivate it.
After that i tried opening in incognito browser
it opened, initially junk letters came instead of my language on all posts.
i got following error messages on it.

Wrong datatype for second argument in /home/content/wp-content/themes/mts_newsonline/functions.php on line 103

Warning: Cannot modify header information – headers already sent by (output started at /home/content/./wp-content/themes/mts_newsonline/functions.php:103) in /home/content/./html/wp-includes/option.php on line 837

Warning: Cannot modify header information – headers already sent by (output started at /home/content/../html/wp-content/themes/mts_newsonline/functions.php:103) in /home/content/../html/wp-includes/option.php on line 838

I went to theme section and changed to 2016 theme, but it again threw-up some other errors.

I tried posting a new post , when i typed my language which is kannada it appeared alright on the content box. when i Hit published it showed the above error messages. the page did not lad back to the post. However, when I checked front page the post was published.

Hope I have put it down clearly
