• My website is https://www.dylanklebold.com

When I created my new layout I used the development directory https://www.dylanklebold.com/test/

Now out of nowhere, without me doing anything, WordPress has chosen to load my /test/ directory as HTTP requests, 301 moved permanently, and this alone has slowed my site’s loading time down to 40 seconds for me (and I’m on a 24Mbps connection).

I am not sure how to fix this issue, this has never happened with my other WordPress installations that I’ve developed in a test directory and then moved.

Note: This is not a plugin causing my site to load slowly. The plugins have always been present, and without issue. I have posted this question on other forums and have gotten only responses about plugins – what I am looking for is help with why WordPress is loading 301 redirects from my non-existent development directory and most importantly how I can stop these from loading.

These were not 301’s setup in cPanel. I have no redirects set in cPanel. This was something WordPress chose to do on its own!

Thanks for any help with eliminating these 301 redirects from loading!

I think I am onto something. My “TEST” directory RECREATED ITSELF! And inside is ONLY a WP-CONTENT/UPLOADS folder. Inside that is a Shareaholic plugin folder, now for some reason when I uploaded Shareaholic through my admin interface in the WP dashboard, it recreated my whole development directory. This is just weird. I may end up solving this… we’ll see…

OK that didn’t help. The directory is gone entirely, but the problem is still present.

Deactivated the plugin and all is well.

Only problem is that now I have to delete it and reinstall it if I want to use it which means my share counts will be gone. GR!!!!!

I would still love to know how in the world this happened, as this makes no sense to me.
