  • simplify the installation?

I agree with dissurion, wp is already very simple. You could make it cleaner if you want by deleting unused code from the index.php (like I removed the commentstuff, pinging, trackback etc.), but after that, using the basic administration area…

Most of us want a few extra options ??

By ‘simplify the installation’ I meant how the installation appears to the end user.
I like all the features for myself, but when I upgraded an old WP installation for a firm, they were horrified by the number of extra options they had to look at.
That was easy to deal with (set the admistration to level 4 or 5) but it got me to thinking if the whole thing couldn’t be lightened up a little.

Now I have a company who just want to update their news page, not much more…

I understand what you’re saying. I had a client with just the same question, but explaining the admin screen to them (don’t use that, this, that, just that) worked ok. The only thing I’m missing now is that for other people I set up wp on the basis of categories only. So the category news contains let’s say ten items (posts), but sometimes the posts are older that this month. So it would be nice to have an orderoption in the manage window that allows to list only the posts that belong to a certain category.

I think I posted this in the ‘request’ department… ??

I’d recommend sending ideas for the admin panel to the WordPress Shuttle team.

WordPress Shuttle team… who would have known!

Actually, I think the administration panels look pretty good and for the working blogger they work real well.

It’s just Ms. Goodbody who does the reception desk, she does get a little hot and flushed over all the options when she has to put up some company news.

    ??

… The Shuttle hasn’t been ‘launched’ yet… but I’ll keep this site in mind ??

You sure you don’t want to make it more complex?
