• Hey there,

My problem is that whenever I work in my WordPress page, every time I click anything, it says that:

“Only registered and logged in users are allowed to view this site. Please login now” and I have to log in again.

It makes my work literally impossible, since I can’t even save any changes I make to posts because the moment I hit update button, it asks me to log in again and all my progress is lost.

I tried pretty much every solution I could find to this problem online (like disabling the plugins, clearing cache etc) but nothing is helping. It happens in all browsers.

Please, help me out here! Thanks in advance

    Yes, I do.

You mention that you have tried clearing the cache and that you have cookies enabled, but have you tried clearing the cookies (at the very least, particularly the ones for your site)?

It definitely sounds like a cookie issue, but I’d like to get a little more information about what you’ve tried first before focusing on whether it’s an issue with the WordPress install or the computer.

Yes, I did clear all my cookies, did not help.

    What I tried until now:
    – clearing cookies
    – clearing cache
    – making sure that in the wordpress genal settings the WordPress Address (URL) and Site Address (URL) are the same
    – tried it in incognito mode
    – tried disabling all wordpress plugins
    – tried it in different browsers
    – tried disabling all browser extentions

When did this start and what had you don’t just before then?

You can try disabling your ‘.htaccess’ filein the wordpress root folder – you will have to use FTP or your cPanel’s file manager to do this. Just rename it to .htaccessx and it will be ignored. You may have to check to see if there are any more .htaccess files in the wordpress folder’s parent folder and up th efolder chain to the top.

Thank you very much for your answer.

About the .htaeccess file- is it safe for me to just change it to .htaccessx? What will it actually do? Can it in some way influence badly my website? Excuse me for asking but I’m a total layman when it comes to coding that’s where my concerns are coming from.

Also: If I change the .htaccess to .htaccessx and something goes wrong, can I still change it back to .htaccess?

    Thank you

It will remove the rules that have been setup in it.

I assume this issue hasn’t always been happening, so some change was made and then the issue started happening. So what changed?

Have you disabled ALL your plugins and tested?
when did you last do a FULL backup your site?
