WordPress is unable to write to the .htaccess file

  • Hi,

    WordPress is unable to write to the .htaccess file, but why!! Although it’s 644 permission and the owner is the website owner

    How to make .htaccess write by WordPress?
    What is the log file that should contain the possible error?

    Even if I make the file permission 777, also WordPress can’t write to it !!!

    What are the permissions and ownership on the WP root directory? It should be the same as wp-content/uploads.
