I waited to update to make sure the bugs were out… Unfortunately I’m having problems already…

Problem: When I edit a post, my links are removed.

Example: I have a post that is published. I go into edit the post, hit backspace and the links I put on images vanish. Gone.

This is the same for Header h1, h2, h3 etc.. links that I have.
Also, after putting the links back (header links) the link text is black, not blue.

This happened after I updated to the latest version of wordpress.

Does anyone have any ideas? Solutions?

    Thanks!

How are you adding the links or h1, h2, etc.? Also have you tried the usual troubleshooting steps?

    – Deactivate all of your plugins and switch your theme to Twenty Eleven. This is a temporary step.

    – Clear your browser cache and cookies.

    – Re-login and create a draft post and insert links and h1, h2, h3, etc.

    Did that make any difference?

I’m inserting Headers by highlighting the text and using the drop down menu to select header size.

I have gone through the plugins one by one with no resolution, but I have not switched to Twenty Eleven yet. This time of evening my traffic stream is pretty constant (don’t want to freak out any visitors!). I will try to deactivate everything and switch themes when my traffic slows down for the night.

I will post back tomorrow with results of those steps.

    Thank you!

That’s good. That’s how I would have done it myself. ??

Sensible. Can you setup a duplicate installation in a sub-directory? If you can reproduce the setup and symptoms that will let you troubleshoot without disturbing your visitors.

Since I have no idea what a duplicate installation in a sub-directory is.. I probably shouldn’t try it :). I’ll just wait until later tonight and go through the trouble shooting steps again.

I just cleared my browser cache and the WP Super Cache, made a quick post https://lifesabargain.net/nfl-greatest-superbowl-moments-i-xlv/ as you can see, at the bottom of the post the link (which is h2) is black — and when I view the post live, then click edit on the top of my screen (in the bar the runs across the top of my screen) it removed the links from the text and the picture – very odd.

    Thanks for your help!

When I go to activate Twenty Eleven do I need to deactivate Genesis? (Sorry, I’m a super-amateur)

    Ok.. So here’s what I just did…

I went in deactivated all plugins, switched to Twenty Eleven theme, cleared my browser, created a new post where I added text links and an image link then went to the live post.. The link colors were correct (flashed on hover blue/black) but when I clicked Edit and landed on the edit page all the links were gone…

Any insight would be greatly appreciated ??

    Thank you!

Looks like your issue may be a known problem – due to be fixed in 3.5.1 (soon)?

Ah, it does look very similar and since some folks are reporting a few different issues around the same topic it’s likely to be the culprit.

I thought I waited long enough before updating. I hope they get it fixed soon! I like to keep my posts fresh and update them often. It’s a real pain to have to go find the links before editing…

Thanks for the info – (((Jeopardy Music))) now we wait…. ??

While I’m thinking about it, is there a simple way to go back to the last version of WordPress?

The 3.5.1 update fixed it!! WOOHOO! Thanks for the help!
