WordPress is Generating Shortlinks That Don't Work

  • Hi:

    WordPress is generating shortlinks for my Web pages that don’t work when you click on them.

    Here is an example of this:

    https://CommercialRealEstateCoach.com/?p=45

    At the same time, WordPress is generating similar shortlinks for my Blogposts that work just fine, and here is an example of one of these:

    https://CommercialRealEstateCoach.com/?p=312

    I’ve been told how to manually change the URL of my Web page shortlinks to get them to work, and this does work, but is there any way to change WordPress so that it generates the correct shortlink codes for my Web pages automatically?

    Here is the Web page link from above after the URL has been manually revised to now make it work:

    https://CommercialRealEstateCoach.com/?page_id=45

    Please let me know if there is any way to get WordPress to generate the correct shortlinks for my Web pages automatically.

  • Hi Jim
    First of all what version of WordPress are you using, this seems to be a permalink/htaccess issue.
    Can you go the Permalinks page located under the Settings menu and change the permalinks settings to any other option apart from the default and click the ‘Save Changes’ button.
    After which you let us know if the problem still persist or if a message was displayed to you after you click the Save Changes button.

    I’m running on WordPress version 3.9.2.

    I tried your suggestion, and tried several different options for the Permalinks settings, but I’m still experiencing the same problem.
