WordPress is blurring images

Could you provide an example? i.e. link to the original image and link to a page on the site where the image is blurry? I’ve never seen this problem before. Thanks.

This is certainly not a ‘feature’… WordPress uses the imagecopyresampled function to resize images which is part of the GD library.

Two shots in the dark; resolution of uploaded images – is it 72ppi? is your server running the latest version of the GD library?

@zoonini, I too have never seen this before, that’s why I was so baffled. Read below for some answers.

@jackson, yes the images are 72 ppi but WordPress changes the resolution automatically anyways.

Well, I don’t know if WordPress really has anything to do with this, at all. What I have found out is that this is actually a browser issue. You see, the thing is, browsers still don’t respond very well to domains with foreign characters.

I have tested three browsers compatibility on image rendering on domains with foreign characters and Firefox was slightly better than Safari, Opera the worst.

So, I guess an apology is in order, WordPress (so it seems) does not blur images. But choosing a downsized image will give you a significant loss of quality in terms of sharpness and contrast. At least that is my opinion.

This is still bugging me anyway… while I must agree with @indent on the browser part… my images look best in Chrome actually… it still seems to be somthing with the crunching process of wordpress, I am just trying to upload some images that contain text and now the softness is more visible then ever, I always prepare my images in photoshop for the web so as the have the exact right dimensions and resolution, however after the upload the look bad, and the worst is there are competing website wich do not seem to have this problem! anyone with any advice please post, you can see the website I am having the problem with here: https://villasdiani.com .
