For the love of…! I’m so confused at this point. Guys, I’m not a super tech-savvy gal (despite that I’m 25), I’m having serious issues trying to figure this out.

    What I’ve done so far:

    1. Downloaded the latest version of WordPress to my computer and opened the ZIP.
    2. Gone to my webhost (name.com). Logged into my cPanel there. Clicked on Softaculous and installed wordpress.

Now, does that install the same wordpress I just downloaded onto my computer? (.org?) or the same wordpress I’m already using (.com) because it looks exactly the same when it had me log into my wordpress account.

All I want to do is add plug-ins to our website without having to upgrade to a business profile for $300 a year! BC www.remarpro.com plug-ins are free apparently? I’m so lost.

    Help me! Please!

    In a nutshell… Yes.

Correct. Sites hosted on wordpress.com (for free) are subject to limitations relative to the installation of plugins and themes that are not made available in the pre-approved selection provided by wordpress.com.

Self hosted sites have no such limitations.

[edit] Some info that may help explain the differences in a little more detail https://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/

As Clayton said, yes it is ‘same’ WordPress.
You can try the plugins you like on your local computer and then install same on your website!

You can go ahead and install the plugins on your website’s WordPress setup. Of course there are millions of free plugins available.

It sounds like you’ve installed WordPress using Softaculous, but then not pointed your domain to it.

Am I right in assuming you’re trying to migrate interioranddesignllc.com from WordPress.com to your new www.remarpro.com (installed using Softaculous) site?

I think so, if you ordered WordPress.com to direct to your own host and website, you have to ask WordPress.com to redirect host delegation to your new host.

    Am I correct?
