• I am surprised there isn’t a solid article on this topic.

All I want to do is create a subdirectory on my hosting server, install a wordpress installation in the subdirectory.

Then redirect a domain request without the subdirectory showing or needing to be in the domain url being entered.

Example my blog is physically located in https://emotionmarketing.com.au/emotion/

But I want the blog to show up when someone types https://emotionmarketing.com.au

This way I can have a number of sub-directories for each wordpress blog, each having a separate domain and each blog does not show the sub-directory when people surf to each blog.

I have allready installed wordpress in a subdirectory so I don’t want to move it anywhere.

I just don’t want the subdirectory to show in the URL.

The wordpress has already been installed in https://emotionmarketng.com.au/emotion/

I just want to get rid of the ?emotion/ at the end of the URL and leave the wordpress installation where it is in the subdirectory.

I have done it once before but for the life of me can’t remember how I did it. I think it was something to do with HTACCESS

There’s lots of articles about moving wordpress installations, installing them in the root and then transfering them to a subdirectory, multi sites using a single database.

Though nothing about having multiple wordpress installations in subdirectories each having its own domain and with the subdirectories not showing up in the domain when loaded in a browser.

Pretty simple really but I am yet to re-learn how to do it?

I just don’t want the subdirectory to show in the URL.

In that case, why not install WordPress in the root directory?

Because I don’t want 16 wordpress installations in the root directory

You mentioned earlier “each having a separate domain.”

When not installed each instance of WordPress in the root of each separate domain?
