WordPress install and blog

I currently have an existing website and want to replace it with a WordPress install and new theme so that I can manipulate and build it. My host also offers WordPress install via Cpanel……..will this over write the existing? Do I have to delete my current site? I don’t really care………..I want to replace it anyway.
