• We have an entertainment blog (which means lots of images) on wordpress. Over the past three days, our server has been suspending our site recurrently saying the “script” /home/XXXX/public_html/blogname/index.php has been causing lot of CPU usage.

We have installed WP-cache plugin, tremendously reduced the image sizes on the homepage, etc., but the CPU usage is still high on the script.

Could you please advise me on what exactly is causing this problem.

  • If your using a lot of functions to automate certain things e.g. Instead of using wp_list_categories(), look at the code that it generates when the page is loaded, copy and paste it from the source and the replace the function with the code. Save you some CPU if you have a lot things like this.
