• Hi, I am working on videos and technology related blogs on wordpress, One of my blog named 99vidz.com get hacked a few weeks back and only the homepage was hacked, and the message on homepage was “Hacked By Turkish Hacker”. After the defacement i upgraded my wordpress and my blog start working again but there were some malicious files in my hosting panel. Please tell me any plugin and ways to fully secure my wordpress with plugin settings. My blog is still unsecure and may be get hacked again in future. I thought that wordpress is most secure blog but…. ??

  • WordPress by itself is very secure. I have never had a problem with a standard WordPress installation out of the box (no plugins, default theme). It’s when you start adding plugins and changing themes that it can quickly become a bit more less secure.

    The first thing that I’d do is install a plugin called ‘TimThumb Vunerability Scanner’ and run that. TimThumb is one of the first things that people hack, so if it’s on your site, you’re vunerable. After that, I’d do a scan on the site at https://sitecheck.sucuri.net/scanner/ and see what it brings back. That should give you an idea of what to look for to clean your site out.
