WordPress Importer fail

  • Hi all,

    I had a website at wordpress.com but I’m moving to more professional levels and wanted to move it to www.remarpro.com.

    I have a hoster and I have installed wordpress through the hoster. Worked well.
    Now I wanted to import the old site to the new host.

    I exported on the wordpress.com site which gave me a quite small *.XML file.
    Then I installed the wordpress importer and tried to import, but when I select the file and click on “update and upload” it just give me the option to download a file called “admin.php”.

    I dont know what to do. Anyone have suggestions?

    Hi,

    I partly solved it.
    1. I installed the same theme used in the wordpress.com version
    2. I changed the computer and tried again at home.

    Right now I’m 90% sure that this were the 2 things I changed.
    The import worked okay for the content but not at all for the site structure etc.

    Hope you can figure it out for you as well!
