• Hi!
Today I had a little surprise when I received a message that a new user was registered on my site even though it didn’t allow new user registration and, also, my admin password was changed. What was even stranger, the new user was registered with administrator privileges!
    How could this happen?
    Thank you!

  • You need to change you host account password as soon as possible and change your wordpress admin user name and password.

I only have one admin user name and user in WordPress, for that matter. I changed the password to this account…
As for the host… that is a random generated password, with a bunch of letters and numbers randomly chosen… Should I change it anyway?

Did you check if there was any thing odd in your server if there any files altered with code that will the hacker change your user name password.

I talked with my web-hosting people and they said that it was purely a WordPress issue. My anonymous ftp accounts are disabled and there was no new user added in my cPanel database, from what I could see.
I have several sites on the same web-hosting account but only one got hacked (all based on WordPress).
