WordPress gallery shortcode not working

The wordpress gallery shortcode doesn’t work in the body of the listing. I can insert individual images, but not a gallery.

This wouldn’t be an issue except that the option to “Automatically display image gallery?” also does not seem to do anything. There are images attached to the post, but they are not displayed on the final product. I also have no idea how to add/edit which images that are attached to a post even though at some point I successfully achieved it at some point…somehow.

It would be nice if all shortcodes worked in the listing body. Then we could use the wordpress gallery and even the divi visual editor.
