• To WP vets,

what are your thoughts on using WordPress as a CMS for a news publishing website that will also have a merchandise store?

would it be better to use joomla/drupal for such a project?

    Thanks!

  • Personally, I’d use WordPress.

i expect this forum to be quite bias of course ??

but i’m thinking long term, years down the road, when there is TONS of content..will WP be able to handle it?

i’m hoping to get more detailed info as to why wordpress would be a better choice over joomla?

would both CMS’s be able to handle the capacity of such a large load of content as well as a merchandise store?

personally I love wordpress and use it on 99% of my clients, however, after doing research for this particular project, most seem to say go with joomla/drupal…but why?

when there is TONS of content..will WP be able to handle it?

Yes. WordPress imposes no limits on the amount of content it can handle. If the site does increase exponentially, you’re more likely to find that the server performance is a far greater issue than WordPress will ever be.

Cree8: I’m developing a b2b news site and did a pretty thorough eval of all of the opensource cms’s. My site is still in development, but I can tell you that it has, so far, met all of our requirements. Flexibility of and selection of plugins and widgets is pretty impressive.
