WordPress folders contain files but reduced to WP Install when acessing URL

    Last Friday I did a full backup using Backup Buddy. I’ve done this several times with no problems. Today, while trying to migrate website to new URL through backup buddy’s import buddy, I get a failed database attempt. Now when going to the URL I get a new WP install screen. Looking into the WP folders the theme, content and images are there. When trying to access /wp-admin I get the new WP install screen.

    What is going on? Please help.

  • Is there a configured wp-config.php present on the newly migrated site? It sounds like there isn’t.

    Hi Dave

    Thanks for the quick response. I have edited the wp-config.php file with the database name, username, and password for the beta site.

    Actually, I couldn’t even get the site to migrate so I thought there might have been a glitch in the backup. Upon accessing the beta site, I was presented with the new WP install screen. I’m now trying to get the website up on the beta URL to start the migration again but I’m stumped on how to proceed.

    Anything you can do to help?

    I use mostly command line tools for my migrations.
