WordPress error: Something may be wrong with www.remarpro.com or this server’s..

  • Hi all,
    wondered if someone could help.

    A couple of days ago i noticed an error when trying to search for new plugins via the ‘Add New’ page in my wordpress admin dashboard.

    As our dashboard/site in general was moving slow i thought this may be the cause (and that things were just simply timing out because it was taking too long to load).

    I can still add new plugins using the upload function within the add new section of my wp admin dashboard.

    (i get the same error within the add new themes section when trying to search for themes – i can upload the themes via zip file though)

    Ive also noticed an error within the main admin dashboard:

    Under the blocks titled WordPress Develpment Blog and Other WordPress News i get the following error messages for both:

    RSS Error: WP HTTP Error: connect() timed out!

    Ive used many site checkers to check for suspicious activity/malware/viruses – all come back clean.

    Ive checked my general settings in the admin panel, all settings are correct and as they should be.

    The only plugin ive installed in the last few days is 410 for wordpress – ive disabled this and refreshed everything and nothing changes and the errors are still present.

    Any help is greatly appreciated.

    Ive just noticed the following errors when accessing the settings page for the Akismet plugin:

    The key below was previously validated but a connection to akismet.com can not be established at this time. Please check your server configuration.

    When i scroll down to the server status the following message is displayed:

    A network problem or firewall is blocking all connections from your web server to Akismet.com. Akismet cannot work correctly until this is fixed. Please contact your web host or firewall administrator and give them this information about Akismet and firewalls.

    The erroe message from Akismet is telling you everything that you need to know.

    Thi happens because your hosting company has some form of firewall set up that’s blocking the connections from your site to the WordPress servers as well as Akismet and probably anything else that’s being requested. You’re seeing the long load times because the system is trying to load from an external server but can’t get access to it. This is something that can only be fixed by your hosting company.
