• I am setting up WordPress under WAMP. (WP version – 6)
NOTE: The link included with this message is on my local PC so I’m not sure it will be of any use.
I followed all the directions for installing WAMP, setting up database using phpMyAdmin, etc.
I confirmed that all prerequisites were met before installing WAMP.
The WordPress install appeared to go fine. I needed to update the Akismet plugin which also went fine.
When I attempted to upload a theme WordPress displayed this error: “Please select a file”. I get this with any theme I try to upload.
I made sure to change max_upload_filesize and the post_max_size directives of PHP to fix a previous “link has expired” issue.
I have reviewed everything I did and even uninstalled everything and started over. I’ve been at this for at least two days without figuring out what’s going on. I think I have exhausted all my options and searches of this forum and the WampServer forums have not produced an answer that applies to what I’m doing. I’m not new to setting up Wamp and WP and have not had this issues before.
This is the environment information from WAMP:

    WampServer Version 3.2.9 64bit
Wampserver install version 3.2.3 installed on 2021-09-14
    Updated to 3.2.9 on 2022-08-28
    Apache 2.4.46 Port 80 - PHP 7.4.9
    MySQL 5.7.31 Port 3306 - MariaDB 10.4.13 Port 3307
PHP 5.6.40 for CLI (Command-Line Interface)

  • The easy thing to do is install the theme manually, which is not as difficult as it sounds. ??

All you need to do is un-zip the themes file, and move that folder into the ‘/wp-content/themes’ folder in your website. Then you can activate that theme through your administration area.
