I have 2 laptops I use depending if I am at the office or at home. In one of my computers a weird thing started happening. When I attempt to edit a post from the dashboard, it show the tab as ‘visual’ but displays html. I get an error when trying to toggle to the html view. I’ve restarted the computer, tried creating new posts and saving them while in the ‘visual’ tab, but after it is saved, it is displayed in html.

  • I had to figure this out just today on a client’s WP site. See if this article helps any:

Thanks, but that isnt what is wrong. I can use one computer and everything is fine, but the other computer doesn’t allow me to toggle between view and html mode in the wordpress editor. Since one computer has no issue, I don’t think it has to do with the wordpress database.

It may be browser-related since it works on one computer and not the other. Try emptying your browser cache.

The same thing happened to me this morning when I cleaned out the cache of my browser. I immediately used Time Machine on my iMac to back up to the latest update. That cleaned up the problem.

Did you happen to delete cache on your browser?

I emptied the cache on the js_server and that fixed the problem for now.

WordPress Editor is stuck in “HTML” view and won’t go to “Visual” when I’m browsing with Internet Explorer 6.0 (sp2), but it works fine when I use Firefox 2.0 browser on the same laptop. I prefer IE 6.0, so how do I fix this?

Opposite problem, I am stuck on the visual editor and can’t use html editor. Nothing happens in firefox and ie says “error on page” when I click on it. Getting tired of reinstalling 2.6 and searching for a solution.
