I have a very strange problem. I installed jetpack on a newly built wordpress site. However, after editing a page it’s changed in a very odd way. All the features of the admin on that page are gone. the only thing left is the preview button, no editor, no update button, no custom fields. The content is still there, shown as basic html in a text box, but of course it can’t be updated, even if I copy and paste html into the field there’s no way to save it. I’ve disabled jetpack and luckily I’d only edited one page, but that page still has the same problem.

Any ideas on how to get a normal wordpress backend back on this page?

    thanks

    Jetpack Mechanic ??

If the problem remains once you deactivate the Jetpack plugin, I’m afraid the problem might not be linked to the plugin.

Could you check for Javascript errors on the page, as explained here:

Let me know what you find!

I’ve followed the instructions but to be honest i don’t understand the result. Sorry! It’s a bit beyond my level.

I’ve remade my page from scratch as a new page and that one is fine, all the wordpress furniture is there. So I’ll just delete the old one and hope it doesn’t happen again. Its very weird though, its as if all ability to edit that file has just gone.

    Thanks anyway

    Jetpack Mechanic ??

Does everything else seem to work properly?

If you still experience issues, could you copy everything you can see in the browser inspector as I mentioned above, and paste the results here?

    Thanks!

Yes everything else works fine, it was just the page I was editing when the spell checker generated errors. the odd thing is, if I duplicate that page the duplicate also has the same problem. If I copy the html and paste it into a new page it’s fine.

That’s interesting. It seems that this page got corrupted somehow. It might be best to just delete it permanently and start a new page from scratch to avoid further issues.
