• Hi, my first post here although I’ve had a self-hosted WP blog for quite awhile now. First, I do know that WP.org and WP.com are two separate things.

Here’s the order of things as best I can remember. I need to know what is safe to get rid of because it’s become a jumbled mess.

-Got my blog a year ago, WP self-hosted.
    -Got the WP iPhone app.
    -Got a Gravatar.
-I think the mess started between the app and Gravatar.
-Signed up with WP.com because of issue with app or maybe when I signed up with Gravatar.
-Have had repeated issues with WP app (have deleted/reinstalled multiple times due to “errors”) which resulted in being blacklisted by Jetpack Protect. Can’t post, but can receive and reply to comments.

I guess it comes down to this. Since I use WP.org to sign into my blog, is it safe to delete the WP.com account or does that affect the Gravatar and/or phone app?

I know this is a hot mess of a post, but I need some guidance.

Thanks in advance for any info.

  • You need your wordpress.com account as a home for your gravatar. I don’t think deleting your wordpress.com account will help with the other problems.

Thanks for the reply, lorro. Just knowing that the wordpress.com and gravatar are linked is a big help.
