• Was working on a new post when I accidentally hit the back button and lost 2 hours of writing.

I went to restore the revision, but it doesn’t seem like my installation has the post revision system enabled.

I’ve since re-wrote my content but I’d like to enable post revisions in case this happens again in the future.

My searches led me to try looking in screen options (not there) and wpconfig to change a line of code to enable revisions, but I didn’t have that line in my config file.

How do I enable the post revision system?

  • Dear Soebr,

This should be turned on automatically. Please check this article on the Revision-system in the Codex.

You can double check your wp-config.php file to check whether or not it is limited to a number as outlined in the article.

Is the problem only occurring for a specific post / page or is this through all posts and pages on your site?

    Hope this helps.

    Kind regards,

That’s what I had thought too.

My config file doesn’t mention revisions at all. This occurs across all posts, but it appears pages still show revisions.

Post revisions are enabled by default. If you don’t see them in the screen options for Posts, then you have something specifically disabling them. Try switching to the default theme and turning off your plugins until you find out what the cause is.

I did all of that and I still cannot get revisions to show up.
