    Site is on www.remarpro.com.
Everything was fine, until I did Update All on my plugins, and WPPA disappeared.

A little investigation reveals this: ” Whenever you modify a plugin, WordPress performs a basic check on all installed plugins, and removes any of them that have code injected above their metadata.”

    Surely WPPA doesn’t do this?

I wanted to reinstall it, but I got “folder already exists” and I have to get my Sysadmin to delete it … except that this will delete my zillion existing photos. WHich I assume are still physically there.

Is there a way out of this?

If you delete the plugin dir …/plugins/wp-photo-album-plus/ you will NOT loose your photos or settings. Do it and re-install as if it is a new plugin.

You might have had a timeout.

I may not have been clear. WordPress deleted the plugin. Now I can’t reinstall it because WP says the folder already exists. If I delete the folder to allow a reinstall, don’t I lose my content then?

    You were perfectly clear.

You can delete .../wp-content/plugins/wp-photo-album-plus/ and its content at any time. Here are the program files. Then re-install and activate the plugin as if it is a new plugin.

The photo-, video- and other data files are in .../wp-content/uploads/wppa/ and .../wp-content/uploads/wppa-source/ Do NOT ‘manually’ do anything inside .../wp-content/uploads/.

The metadata is in 7 database tables. Do NOT modify anything in them.

    Thank you, I understand now.
