WordPress database error

  • When I go to make a comment on my blog, I get the following message:

    WordPress database error: [MySQL server has gone away]
    SELECT * FROM wp_comments WHERE comment_ID = 6

    WordPress database error: [MySQL server has gone away]
    SELECT comment_status FROM wp_posts WHERE ID = 27

    Also, when someone tries to register, they never received a password by email. Can anyone out there please HELP me resolve this.
