WordPress Database Error (127)

I have the following error which appears at the top of my site:-

WordPress database error: [Got error 127 from table handler]
SELECT ID, COUNT( comment_ID ) AS ccount FROM wp_posts LEFT JOIN wp_comments ON ( comment_post_ID = ID AND comment_approved = ‘1’) WHERE ID IN (94,95,91,90,89,88,87,84,83,82) GROUP BY ID

There are similar errors scattered around the site and the admin pages.

The calendar has grown inexplicably large as well!

I did a search and followed the instructions to repair the database via phpmyadmin, but that didn’t resolve the problem.

I think it is something to do with comments, and I think it was triggered when a friend of mine commented on a page (no-one had previously commented on a page). I deleted the page but that didn’t help either.
